'Belstone pictures' was created by CEO Finn Cardigan Bruce the founder and lead producer of 'Belstone pictures'. His love for film was originated at Hurtwood House film academy where he produced various documentaries.
After leaving Hurtwood House Finn founded 'Belstone pictures' in 2012 with a desire to make films that push boundaries whilst also communicating and sharing inspirational and spellbinding stories.
After leaving London where Finn was working on TV shows such as Top gear, Downton abby and the X factor and also working with people such as Shaun Redick, Ray Mansfield and Nicola Horlick he went to focus on 'belstone pictures' in 2016. Finn has now developed a strong production slate, overseen physical production and sales on various commercially and critically successful films as well as raising over £1 million of independent equity.
TANK 432
'Tank 432" was Belstone pictures first film which was released on the 24th of October 2015 and directed by Nick Gillespie.
The cast included : Reeves: Rupert Evans, Capper: Micheal Smiley, Karlsson: Deirdre Mullins, Gantz: Steve Garry, Smith: Gordon Kennedy, Annabella: April Pearson, Evans: Tom Meeten, Prisoner: Georgina Beadle.
Due to the fact that Tank 432 was Belstones first film it needed to have a small budget so the company was able to gain profit from the film in order to make another.
Tank 432 premiered at the fantasia international film festival on the 23 July 2016. It was released on DVD in the UK on 22 August, and IFC released it to video on demand in the US on 25 November 2016.
The film also managed to gain a Netflix deal with Netflix US but is not available on the UK Netflix.
TUCKED
Tucked was belstone pictures second film and was a massive success. The film was released on the 21st of July 2018 and was directed by Jamie Patterson.
The cast included : Faith: Jordan Stephens, Jackie: Derren Nesbitt, Lily: April Pearson, Daryl: Steve Oram, MC: Brendon Burns
The film managed to acquire a £23,086 worldwide box office. The film also managed to gain profit through its DVD streaming sales where it grossed a total of £3,019. the poster on the right is the official movie poster for the film. It features the two main characters of the film Faith and Jackie who are drag queens who work at a small drag show in Brighton.
you can also see on the posters the film festival winnings that the film gained. The advantage of film festival winnings is that it shows the audience that the film is worth watching therefore putting the film festival winnings on the poster is a good marketing technique.
The film is available on various streaming platforms such as amazon prime, I tunes, google play and HBO. compared to tank 432 which did not get many good reviews tucked had a multitude of good reviews applauding the accurate LGBTQ+ representation and it heartwarming and touching storyline making it plausible for the audience.
MAKING TRACKS
Making tracks was directed by Jamie Patterson and was released on the 25th of October 2020.
the cast included : Lucy: April Pearson, Chris: Chris Willoughby, Mia: Sky Lourie and Adriana: Lili Donovan
This is a review I found online about the film - "What started out to have great promise lost it very easily, the film is clearly of a low budget, but has inklings to be something far more superior, often it pulls this off. But then it goes off in side tangents, taking the part of the story where the romantic couple become separated a rocky road, Unfortunately when the story hits division, there is nothing to pull this film back on its tracks and if I'm honest I gave up giving the film my fullest attention.
The film is what it is, but its now European Vacation and while everyone struggles to make the film the best it can be, the less impressive script knows everyone for six."
I actually watched this film on prime a few years ago and I can say I agree with the statement. as you watch the film it does become apparent that the film did have a low budget and the film also did not manage to get the same good reviews as tucked.
However the film did gain film festival award winnings as seen on the marketing poster below.
PAUL DOODS DEADLY LUNCH BREAK
Paul doods deadly lunch break is not yet released and is in
post production. the film is being directed by Nick
Gillespie and the film was due to be released on the 21st
or march 2021 but due to Covid 19 delays the release has
been moved to a later date so the film can get the right
amount of profit for its budget.
The thing with low budget films is that they need to work
even harder to get enough box office through good
marketing strategies and techniques.
the SXSW film festival celebrated raw innovation and
emerging talent from behind the screens and infant of it.
the company provides the game changing buzz every
film maker dreams about for their feature films
the festival takes part in Huston Texas and runs from the
11-19 of March 2022.
it is a huge accomplishment and good marketing for
Belstone Pictures to have a feature film in this
festival.
this is a review I found which is from the SXSW film festival - "The distorting force of social media approval on an already vulnerable mind is explored in this broad black comedy. Sad sack Paul (Tom Meeten) dreams of winning a national talent show, but is thwarted on the way to the auditions by the actions of five individuals. Tipped over the edge by the death of his beloved Mum, he sets out for revenge. Paul Dood’s Deadly Lunch Break is a bit of a blunt instrument of a film, which takes on several open-goal themes – talent competitions, live streaming and bullying, both online and in real life – but fails to make much of a coherent statement about any of them. However a game cast of British comedy stalwarts and splashes of gleefully over-the-top gore might titillate some genre audiences."
the review makes the film seem comedic with could be a good attention grabber for the intended audience.
In terms of collaborations there are a few obvious ones you can see developing
Firstly, CEO Finn cardigan bruce used April Pearson in a multitude of his films as lead actress. the
actress best known for her role as 'Michelle' in skins TV drama, has now gone on to wright and produce
along with Finn at Belstone.
the next collaboration I have seen through my research is the great amount of work Belstone has produced
with director Jamie Patterson and Nick Gillespie. both directors have directed 2 of the films I have talked
about and are going on to do further directing work with Belstone Pictures.
even though tank 432 was not the best film Belstone produced it was a leading ground for the others
which have all so far gained film festival awards. especially for small film companies film
festival winnings are extremely important as they give companies the recognition they need to
grow in order to gain bigger budgets, bigger box office. this therefore grows the company all together
