opening title sequence inspired by a documentary and news article

news article - Florence St George: "it looked like I was living the dream but I was in a dark place"

the sequence would open with a blacked out picture with cloud cheering noises. the black screen would then fade out to a shot of an actress from behind on a red carpet surrounded by paparazzi and interviewers with microphones at the sides. the first shot of the woman would start at a low angle from behind her and the camera would slowly go up higher until it is just a close up shot of the back of her head. the camera would then switch to a id shot of her on the red carpet posing for the cameras. she would have a subtle smile on her face and things such as the camera clicks would be pleonastic and the flashes on the camera would be edited so they looked over exaggerated to get the point across to the audience the fact that having a glamorous like can also be overwhelming. the voices of the paparazzi and interviewers would also be slightly muffled and the would be out of focus at points to draw more attention to the actress. you would then have a mid long following shot of the actress walking down the carpet and away from the venue with her personal security guard to the car. the car would be something fancy like a Mercedes or a limbo to show the audience her wealth. you would have a shot of the actress from outside the car window looking in or her showing her wave and smile to the cameras which would then move to a close up shot of her inside the car as they drive away looking sad and the smile disappearing from her face to a bored numb look. you would then have a long shot of her getting out of her car and saying thank you to her driver who then drives away. she would enter her house which would be big and glamorous. you would have things such as posters of awards on the walls to establish her fame and importance. however once the actress gets home you would start to see the reality of her life. there would be a shot of her walking up the stairs and a shot from inside her room of her turning the lights on and ass the lights turn on she is seen framed in the doorway. as the lights come on the audience would see her room is a mess. there would be clothes everywhere and only mugs and food bowls on all the surfaces. there would be a backing track to this scene of sad slow music. there would then be a shot of her going into a cupboard which contained things such as wine and drug looking substances. she would then get out a bottle of red wine and sit on her bed and start drinking it from the bottle. she would then look at her phone and see the recently uploaded photos of her on the red carpet she would immediately see bad comments and you would get a side close up of her face showing her bad reaction. she would then through her phone down on the bed and get up to go the the bathroom. she would stand in front of the sink with a shot of her looking in the bathroom mirror with a look of anger and sadness. she would then open the cupboard above the sink and a shot of prescription pills in the cupboard would be shown. she would then get the pills and empty 2 into her hands. she would swallow them without water and then there would be a final close up shot of her looking at herself in the mirror. there would be a crescendo of music at this point and then the scene would go to a sudden blackout.

documentary - a secret love (Netflix)

this is set in late 1960s england. the sequence would fade in to a field with blaring sunlight going towards the camera so the image was overexposed. there would be two girls in the field running around and sounds of laughter would be heard in the background. there would also be a voice over in the background of an older woman who would be one of the girls grown up explaining the first part of the story. there would be follow shots of the two girls and there would be cross cutting between them until there would be an eye line match between them which would be the cutting point for the first scene. the scene would then immediately cut to a long shot of a house in a slightly run down area with a train going past in the distance. it would then cut to the inside of the house and one of the girls sitting on the sofa watching tv in a mid long shot with her dad sleeping snoring next to her. her and her mum look at each other and start laughing at the sound of her dads loud snores. there would then be a close up shot of the tv at the news starts playing and the stone wall riots are the coverage. the mum would be cutting up food and there would be a close up shot of her looking to the tv abruptly in a reaction shot for the audience. the camera would then switch to a long shot of her body coming from the tv and he walking over abruptly with a stern look on her face. she would grab the controller from the table infant of the tv and switch it off. the tv light projecting onto the girl would turn off as she complains to her mum. there would then be a mid shot of the dad on the sofa waking up as his daughters complaining startles him in his sleep and wakes him up. he is asking what happened confused at the comotion and the mum explains how she doesn't want the girl watching that stuff of the tv. she complains more saying she was finding it interesting and wanted to watch it and reaches for the controller back. her mum slaps her hand away hard an shouts "you don't want to watch those kind of people on the tv its not good for you'. the sound of her mothers voice and her dads confusing asking what's happened fade away as the camera zooms into her face for a reaction shot for the audience showing them she feels confused and hurt by her mothers actions.

film ideas inspired by news article

Liverpool bomb: four freed as suspect killed in blast named

based on the recent Liverpool text bomb

i would base the film on a crime drama having the same kind of vibe as criminal minds. the opening title sequence would start with a tracking shot of the car which would move to over the shoulder shots in the inside of the car showing the driver and the passenger who has the bomb. the characters would be silent for the journey with uplifting contrapuntal radio music in the background for the audience as the know what is going to happen. the car would then stop at the drop off point and the driver would then say “here you go” to the passenger expecting him to get out the car. the passenger would then be silent and stay still with no expression on his face as the driver acts confused and asks “have i taken you to the wrong destination” as he looks at his phone checking he has taken him to the right place. the drivers dialogue chatting to the man would slowly get more snd more muffled and a ear ringing noise would slowly become prominent as the camera zooms into a close up shot of the passengers face. the bomb would then go off and the camera would switch to a high angle crane shot of the car exploding and the uplifting radio music would turn into non-diegetic  background music with the sound of nearby car alarms going off. it would then go into shots of a police station with the opening credits

breaking bad scene analysis

the first scene of interest is where the teacher is standing in front of the class trying to teach a lesson.

the scene demonstrates many different meaning and representations. one meaning throughout the scene is status and hierarchy. for example, by the use of character positioning when the man is teaching the class he is stood up at the front of the class whilst they are all sitting down. this shows the status the teacher has in relation to the kids. this also shows the audience that he is a teacher which gives connotations of being assertive over the class. however, this idea is heavily juxtaposed when later on in the scene the teacher is washing a car that happens to be one of his students. this juxtaposes the idea of teachers having the power over students and gives the idea that the student is in higher power to the teacher. this is emphasized by the low camera angle on the teacher as he is washing the students car. when the teacher and his boss are arguing to each other at the car wash it cross cuts between them until the boss tells the teacher he cant work as the cashier anymore. this gives a further idea the teacher has no status as he does not get to have the last word and up frustrated and isolated. in the scene pleonastic sound is used when the teacher tells one of his students to move back to his original seat. the student then drags his char back creating an unpleasant, scratchy sound for the audience. the student makes the teacher cross implying to the audience the further status the teacher is having taken away from him making him look foolish and weak as he doesn't retaliate to the student.

another meaning in the scene is loneliness. for example, when the teacher is shown eating lunch by himself the use of character placement shows he is a lonely man who seems to live a simple life making the audience feel empathetic to the audience. the establishing shot and tracking shot show the audience the space and empty chairs surrounding him supporting the fact he is lonely. the symmetrical shot connotates the idea that of a simple and repetitive life as the shot is even on both sides. this could suggest to the audience that he is used to it and the loneliness is a normality in his life. the use of linear narrative in the scene further represents how the teachers life is simple and repetitive showing to the audience that. at the carwash there is non diegetic parallel sound played in the background. the music was repetitive which created a sense of frustration adhering to the stereotype of a carwash.

in the scene the teachers costume consists of dull colors with an old fashioned modest tone to it. this shows the teacher as a stereotype, demonstrating to the audience that he is dull and old. this is therefore another area of representation throughout the scene. the man is also wearing glasses giving him the stereotype of being a geek and therefore smart but this could also give negative connotations that he it unpopular and has little friends. the long shot duration used in the scene during the teachers lesson also demonstrates the representation of age. there are two important long shots. for example, when the teacher is rambling on about what he is teaching the class and other when the students are blankly looking back at him in silence. this is an accurate representation of the older generation as they can ramble and can be boring to listen to for an extended period of time.

overall the director intended to place many different meanings into the scene. the idea that status, age and loneliness contributed his isolated lifestyle was most prevalent. this gave the teacher both positive and negative representations.

research the history and filmography of 'Belstone pictures'

'Belstone pictures' was created by CEO Finn Cardigan Bruce the founder and lead producer of 'Belstone pictures'. His love for film was originated at Hurtwood House film academy where he produced various documentaries.

After leaving Hurtwood House Finn founded 'Belstone pictures' in 2012 with a desire to make films that push boundaries whilst also communicating and sharing inspirational and spellbinding stories.

After leaving London where Finn was working on TV shows such as Top gear, Downton abby and the X factor and also working with people such as Shaun Redick, Ray Mansfield and Nicola Horlick he went to focus on 'belstone pictures' in 2016. Finn has now developed a strong production slate, overseen physical production and sales on various commercially and critically successful films as well as raising over £1 million of independent equity.

TANK 432

'Tank 432" was Belstone pictures first film which was released on the 24th of October 2015 and directed by Nick Gillespie.

The cast included :  Reeves: Rupert Evans, Capper: Micheal Smiley, Karlsson: Deirdre Mullins, Gantz: Steve Garry, Smith: Gordon Kennedy, Annabella: April Pearson, Evans: Tom Meeten, Prisoner: Georgina Beadle.

Due to the fact that Tank 432 was Belstones first film it needed to have a small budget so the company was able to gain profit from the film in order to make another.

Tank 432 premiered at the fantasia international film festival on the 23 July 2016. It was released on DVD in the UK on 22 August,  and IFC released it to video on demand in the US on 25 November 2016.

The film also managed to gain a Netflix deal with Netflix US but is not available on the UK Netflix.

TUCKED

Tucked was belstone pictures second film and was a massive success. The film was released on the 21st of July 2018 and was directed by Jamie Patterson.

The cast included : Faith: Jordan Stephens, Jackie: Derren Nesbitt, Lily: April Pearson, Daryl: Steve Oram, MC: Brendon Burns

The film managed to acquire a £23,086 worldwide box office. The film also managed to gain profit through its DVD streaming sales where it grossed a total of £3,019. the poster on the right is the official movie poster for the film. It features the two main characters of the film Faith and Jackie who are drag queens who work at a small drag show in Brighton.

you can also see on the posters the film festival winnings that the film gained. The advantage of film festival winnings is that it shows the audience that the film is worth watching therefore putting the film festival winnings on the poster is a good marketing technique.

The film is available on various streaming platforms such as amazon prime, I tunes, google play and HBO. compared to tank 432 which did not get many good reviews tucked had a multitude of good reviews applauding the accurate LGBTQ+ representation and it heartwarming and touching storyline making it plausible for the audience.

MAKING TRACKS

Making tracks was directed by Jamie Patterson and was released on the 25th of October 2020.

the cast included : Lucy: April Pearson, Chris: Chris Willoughby, Mia: Sky Lourie and Adriana: Lili Donovan

This is a review I found online about the film - "What started out to have great promise lost it very easily, the film is clearly of a low budget, but has inklings to be something far more superior, often it pulls this off. But then it goes off in side tangents, taking the part of the story where the romantic couple become separated a rocky road, Unfortunately when the story hits division, there is nothing to pull this film back on its tracks and if I'm honest I gave up giving the film my fullest attention.
